Let me explain with this story from my life:

Years ago my sister got with a guy who was a piece of shit. Ended up marrying him and having kids with him. This was despite our entire family telling her it was a bad idea. (she had to be the 'bad girl who made it' but has wound up as the girl with 5 kids and lives off of Gov't welfare.) I proved to her he stole from me on several occasions it even provoked a fight between us (where in I didn't get hit and hit him about 7 times before it was broken up by my sister.) She married him.

Years later she wants away from him. Hes abusive, controlling and just generally acts like a narcissist (I.E. Grown baby to any blunt, honest, non-coward). THEY ask me to move in with them. I do because its my sister. 3 months later they are asking me to pay all the bills (Instead of half) I say "No" and this starts a fight between me and him wherein I beat him up again. As a narcissist the guy cant stand his ego being beaten, and he leaves several threatening voice mails, and one phone call where he 'is going to kill me if I don't start paying his bills for the rest of my life with the gun he just bought.' Where in I made fun of him and said "Hows this dude? I'm going to be waiting for you (Location) and We will see if you are a pussy or not." Followed by "You mad bro?" To him screaming at the top of his lungs that he knows "Under it all I know you are a coward." (Yeah well that makes me the coward that beat your ass...twice...) I call the police on him and give them the evidence. Wanna know what they tell me? "Settle it like men should." What the fuck does that mean? They literally stopped taking my report as soon as they realized this was my brother-in-law.

Now years later my sister is trying to get away from him and he threatens to kill his own fucking kids if she doesn't do what he says and they just ignore her. Don't get me wrong, they are still in court and he does this in person alone so there aren't witnesses but I know she isn't lying. My sisters laywer told her to rail him the day the divorce is final. On several occasions she has had to call the police on him to get him to leave. He has attacked her, threatened his kids, and me. I've offered several times to escort her and she says "No you will just end up beating him up again, and that won't help." (Probably not, but we would all feel better about it. He won't call the police because he can't admit he lost a fight...thats delusional narcissism for you.)

Whats the problem here? The evidence is literally all pointing against him. Proof of harassment, proof of threats (from me and my sis), and even his kids say that he has threatened them in court. The courts still do nothing productive.

Its a weird thing to say but I find it strange that he never will do anything about him. I know this is not the norm, but I think its just a competency issue with the judicial system across the board. It hurts both men and women who are lawful. So more than just for men, a reform needs to happen.

Why do you think the police/judicial system are so incompetent? What should be changed?
