Representative Ehrhart of the US State of Georgia has publicly defended the due process rights of the accused in flawed college investigations. I have sent him an email in support of this cause as he is one of a handful of politicians willing to stand up against the Department of Education's overreach through Title IX and the infamous Dear College letter. ​Dear Representative Ehrhart,

Thank you for standing up for the due process rights of accused students. Over one hundred lawsuits have been filed against colleges/universities already, and yet you are one of the very few politicians willing to defend the legal rights granted by the United States Constitution. Young men in colleges, and men in general frankly, have become the whipping boys for a minority of violent criminals both in colleges and abroad. The rights of these men, and their futures, are being dismissed based on the word of another person and practically no one gives it a second thought. Time and time again, broadly publicized, demonstrably false accusations have absolutely demolished the lives of innocent men. In contrast, false accusers have not only avoided the consequences of their lies, but also benefited from mass media attention and universal praise from victim advocates. In one case, the accuser was even invited to the State of the Union address courtesy of a US Senator.

I sincerely hope that you will remain steadfast in your support of the due process rights of young men in colleges across our country. I have no doubt that some will see your actions as an attack on women, an attack on victims, or as support for sexual abusers rather than the common sense protection of due process rights granted to all Americans regardless of gender. I am confident, given the strength of your statements, that you will weather whatever accusations made against your character in the pursuit of justice.
