There are plenty of honest women who say "yes, I want the man to pay because I want my man to give me free shit and I'm vetting for the kind of man who will give me free shit in future."
Fine. I get it. We are living in a material world and everyone wants free shit, myself included.
But then you get women who lie about it being about fairness or justice or courtesy. Or if they don't lie, they come up with bad justifications for why they want free shit. Here are some of the arguments I heard:
- "If he's willing to pay, it shows he's more thoughtful or invested." Does it though? Unless you're friends, if you're just starting to go out, he barely knows you, how can he be invested? Also, many men don't mind dropping some cash on a boring dinner date for a chance to get their dick wet. Also, look how many losers spend money on OnlyFans. Spending money is no proof of investment, it's proof of giving you free shit.
- "It's hazard pay because women are more vulnerable." No it isn't. You don't mitigate dating risks by charging men for dates. You either avoid dating or take more precautions to date only people you know well.
- "Women's time is inherently more valuable and should be paid for." No it isn't. Your time becomes valuable when you provide value to the other person.
- "Women hit the wall faster and don't have time to fuck around." What does that have to do with anything? Men hit the wall too, as y'all are quick to point out. This argument still reduces to 'I want free shit.'
- "Relationships make women's lives a lot worse and require compensation." Then why are you looking for a relationship? Women act like any time they become a partner, they're such martyrs and doing the man such a huge favor as he reaps 90% of the rewards. Nonsense. It's not 1950 anymore. If relationships with men are so terrible, don't have them. Plus, if it's the first or second date, your relationship is completely in your head. You haven't given the man anything he needs to compensate.
- Ditto motherhood. When you become heavy with child, I'll carry you everywhere and pay for all your shit. I'm not paying for some theoretical future child.
- "It's polite/courteous for the inviter to pay for the invitee." This one's awfully convenient clever because everyone knows women don't ask men out.
Lying may be necessary in real life where there are social etiquettes to maintain but surely on PPD you can stand to tell the truth.
