If the punishment is "living with this the rest of her life" why even bother charging this negligent mother in the first place? If we aren't going to be serious about prosecuting cases like this, we might as well just admit it and save ourselves the tax money. What exactly is this supervision even going to do? The child is dead already and the mother is obviously a lost cause. Plus, it's not like probation ever gets revoked on unapologetic criminals.
