Maybe I can clarify?

The problem is the context. In our society, this woman got a year and a quarter in jail for what happened. If the genders were reversed, this man would likely have gotten ten years or more, and a lot of people would be calling for him to be castrated or even executed. Plus, he will spend the rest of his life on what is called the "Registered sex offender list," which means that he can't travel without permission from the government, if he moves to a new home he has to personally (under the supervision of a police officer) tell ALL of his neighbors within a five-mile radius that he is a registered sex offender and if anybody has a problem with it they can deny him permission to move in, he also likely won't be able to get a job, and, of course, because the girl was under 18, a huge majority of people will consider it rape even if both partners say it was consensual.

I agree with you that it's bullshit this woman had to go to jail at all for doing something harmless with a consensual partner, but what she got was a slap on the wrist compared to what would have happened if she had been a man.
