I've been traveling a bit in various corners of the globe, and I've noticed some differences in how single males are thought of.

Most poorer countries have many more egregious problems than we in the Western countries do... and so we make a big deal out of things that wouldn't be worth people's time in those other places.

Somehow, so many of our modern industrialized countries have come to distrust the single male. People like men who seem to be successful... that is to say they look like they are attached to a family, and are doing something with their lives. But, if you show signs of being a person who is a bachelor, people start wondering "what went wrong?"

Everybody has the right to follow their heart and live their lives as they choose. Certainly, being a single person (male or female) can have huge benefits, both financially and potentially when it comes to allowing a person to have a broader social life. But does that social life happen if people fundamentally mistrust single males to such a degree that no woman in the USA will go out and walk by herself after dark at night?

What on earth possesses women to want to daydream so much that they distrust every unattached male is beyond me. This is no more than a form of "mental masturbation."
