Most human experiences of tragedy don't result in caring less for other people experiencing it.

If my brother gets cancer I experience sadness. it means when I come across someone in the same situation I have much more empathy.

Overall this doesn't seem to happen for male victims of dv. The more stories of women being abused by men in the press the less interest there is in a male victim. A zero sum game instead of the compassion growing for ANY person experiencing an abusive partner.

When I read responses in this forum and others by men that experienced dv from a partner I feel more compassion for all people in that situation.

Men, please keep telling your story if this happened to you. You are part of making this issue a more human experience and hopefully in the telling making a difference for All dv victims and people that care about them.
