I think the author should acknowledge that Ms. Yavorsky's paper is based on data collected from a 90% white, 75% college educated population in a mid-Western city that may have certain more conservative social values. Also the data defines housework as only including routine tasks - not outdoor maintenance, auto repair, or other forms of episodic maintenance on the house. In eliminating this work often done by men (the honey-do list), the author denies the existence of masculine forms of domesticity and constructs the home as a feminine only zone that men have to infiltrate to receive credibility for contributing to the child-rearing environment.

It really pisses me off, this little chestnut! How do they gather this data??? They do a survey...... What woman in their right mind is ever going to say 'yes, actually, my husband does more around the house than me!' even where they do??? My wife is the prime example - she doesn't work, our children are all of school age! She makes a massive deal about doing the laundry and cooking a few times a week because I rarely do these tasks. Funny thing is, the massive 5 bed house we own that I have renovated single handed and continue to have to redecorate periodically, the classic vw beetle she drives (that I restored and maintain), the gardens she thinks keep themselves clear of shit from the little rat of a dog she apparantley looks after....... All those jobs don't count either! So sick of all this bullshit female pandering bollocks - had more arguments over 'the unequal amount of work' than just about anything else!
