It would have been a nice gesture if the first lady had bothered to invite boy scouts along too for what NBC writes was:

The event is part of the first lady's "Let's Move Outside" initiative with hopes to inspire millions of young people to play, learn, serve and work outdoors. It also coincides with June being national parks month.

I mean this is the right way to help a gender do things. Positive actions for one group shouldn't affect the other, and it seems like a jealousy problem to worry about it. It's kind of flattering to have women try to enjoy things that men mostly enjoy. Of course if it was actual camping with work being done and survival being taken seriously instead of glow stick fires and tons of chaperoning it would make more sense but then it would be as fun.
