No men allowed: publisher accepts novelist's 'year of women' challenge

This is ridiculous. When women write books that are worth reading, they sell (Harry Potter, Hunger Games). When women write books that are unquestionably classics, they remain classics (Bronte, Chopin, Cather, Lee etc.). When they write books worthy of awards, they win awards (Janice Y. K. Lee, etc.). I don't see any gender bias here. Unless, by gender bias, it means that it isn't a perfect 50/50 split between published men and published women. Maybe women just need to write better books?

Okay, I was willing to deal with people choosing what to read based on absurd criteria, but publishers? Now were playing with people's careers, their livlyhoods.
