This was big news in Ottawa for the last week and a bit. A woman claimed that she was attacked by a strange man while she was jogging in a secluded path in Ottawa. She claimed she was knocked unconscious, beaten and burned by cigarettes. She claimed the man took pictures of her with her own phone while she was unconscious and then sent those photos to her contacts. She claimed she was not sexually assaulted (obviously because there would be proof of that - proof that didn't exist). Police immediately started an investigation. A city counsellor made a statement about the safety of women and the disgusting man who had done this. The attack was described as "gender-based." All of this based on an allegation and a pretty fishy story (my dad immediately remarked upon first hearing about it: "she did it to herself"). Anyways, today the OPS made a statement that the claims of the attack were bogus but they will not release the details of their investigation. They stated that the woman will not be charged with mischief which would carry a penalty of up to 5 years imprisonment.

TL;DR: another woman gets away with a lying about a false attack by a man and the authorities enable her in doing so
