I haven't seen the movie and only read the reviews and watched the trailer.

On hearing what the plot was and hearing how feminist it was supposed to be, I thought, didn't we see Max rescue women and children before in Thunderdome? Isn't that what Max does?

How is Fury Road not another damsel in distress movie (which Sarkeesian would say makes it not a feminist movie).
How is it feminist?

Isn't this "feminist" plotline just what Mad Max has been since the first one? A post apocalyptic world ruled by muscle and brutes that is terrible for anyone man or woman who is weak in any manner? And especially harsh on women because of rape? And Mad Max gets in the way and saves the damsels because he is a hero who can be expected to save the damsels even at the cost of his life?

If you've seen it, can you explain what makes this more feminist than any other Mad Max entry (and without giving away spoilers?)

FWIW, It's Mad Max by George Miller. I've always thought it had strong women in it, and I don't care about how feminist this version is, my question is if there is anything to feminists and reviewers claims this is somehow a feminist movie.
