In one of my last posts about men's looks having a larger affect than women's. I received this comment. In the last part of this comment, the person talks about how women are more objectively attractive than men because of the work they put in. I do agree with this statement but the only reason, this statement holds true is because girls have a higher potential to make themselves more attractive than guys. Let's first talk about makeup. Though I partly agree their are types of makeup guys can put on to make themselves more attractive(i.e. foundation to have homogenous looking skin). For makeup overall though their are certain stringent limits for how much and what types of makeup guys can use as opposed to girls who can put on any type of makeup and as much as they want. The commenter in my previous post implies this is because other guys will think it is gay to put on things like eyeshadow but I believe this is mostly due to the fact that girls tend to be attracted to more masculine and rugged features. For example, girls wouldn't be attracted to their boyfriends if they looked like James Charles. Another thing that relates to this subject is hair style, when it comes to hair men can do a lot of styles but women can do more especially since they have longer hair(even short styles women can do also). When it comes to long hair men can grow it out but only when in a certain style(i.e. Fabio) as opposed to girls who can do things like this and this, which really wouldn't be socially acceptable for guys and which girls really wouldn't be attracted too. The last thing would be clothing styles. When it comes to wearing good fitting clothes I believe this is an important aspect when it comes to appearance but what also matters is style too. When it comes to style their are only certain types of clothes men can wear(i.e. shirts, pants, and some type of jacket) as opposed to girls who can socially wear everything men can wear and more(i.e. skirts, crop tops, rompers and dresses). Therefore due to these options women have a lot more combinations to make themselves look better than guys. You can see this play out when women show that they don't really have attraction for femboys, but guys still have affection for girls who dress like a tomboy. In conclusion when it comes down to it, men can only do so many things when it comes to increasing their attraction that is in their control and women are only attracted to certain types of styles , so their is not much you can do as a guy if you don't have the non-genetic looks from guys that are on the r/LadyBoners subreddit.
