The Right to Bear Arms is not and should not be a ethnic/ racial issue. All law-abiding citizens who have good mental health should have their right to self-defense recognized. Of course, on the flip-side to this Right to Bear Arms is the Responsibility for the actions (and inactions) taken while armed. If you use the weapon irresponsibly or unsafely, then you can and should be held accountable for the results of your actions.

That being said, there is a rash of mentally unstable people with guns committing horrible actions with firearms. We need to address the issue of mental health and access to counseling and therapy. We also need to address the issue of what factors in society contribute to the instability of individuals within society.

Feminists will be quick to point out that all (or nearly all) the 'mentally unstable people with guns' are male and Feminists will further blame 'Testosterone poisoning' or 'Toxic Masculinity' for the atrocities. IMHO, the problem is not Men, Males, or Masculinity. The problem is that society has become a toxic crucible which can break down anybody. Every human being has a breaking point. Men, more-so than women, are exposed to constant assault on their identity and self-esteem. Girls and young women have many programs designed specifically to bolster their self-esteem and self-worth. Boys and young men do NOT have these advantages; instead, they are reminded consistently of how dangerous they are, how they are little rapists, how worthless they are. Their self-esteem is eroded and weakened. Eventually, with enough pressure, young men fall into isolation, depression, and self-loathing. Then, they lash-out in anger. This anger, combined with fire-arms, yields deadly results.

We can 'nip this in the bud' by valuing boys and girls equally. Stopping people with toxic opinions of gender from exposing young people to their harmful ideas. We need to show boys that they are as valued as girls; failure to do so is doing the children a dis-service and society as a whole, a grave dis-service as well.
