a friend of mine recently commented, "rape is just what we call sex now."

along those lines, "rape culture" is anything sex-related that a feminist doesn't like. slut walks and running naked through parks at midnight are ok because it's telling men hey, even if women dress provocatively, that doesn't mean men get to have sex with them.

cheerleaders dancing in a sexually suggestive manner, however, is rape culture, because it gives men the impression that women may want to have sex with men. and sex is rape. get it?

that and feminists are generally against anything "heteronormative." so cheerleaders, fraternities, the military, etc. if you're comfortable with your masculinity or femininity, feminists have a problem with it.

Ginevra Ralph, the woman who 'raised the issue' comes across as one of a breed of real-life, as opposed to online, concern trolls, who want to police and control everything that doesn't fit their narrow-minded ideas of what is appropriate. 'Rape Culture' is just an excuse to exercise control. And they say that patriarchy is all about dominance.

there is something so subtle that my tiny male brain cannot grasp the logic behind it.

Well its not to do with your male brain, its to do with not knowing what feminist arguments are.

Slut walk is an anti victim blaming movement saying that women get raped wearing all sorts of things, and saying that no matter what someone wears - people shouldn't take the attitude that they asked to be raped in some way.

Feminists will argue against cheerleaders on the basis they are presented as one dimensional sex objects purely for sexual titillation, fuck toys and sexual entertainment for men.

As well as that, there are left wing feminists that don't agree with slut walks and see it as right wing / neo liberalism, so the people opposing the cheerleader might well fall in to that category.
