it seems very likely Pao didn't thrive at her work because of her personality and her job performance. too aggressive? not aggressive enough? maybe her bosses just didn't like her. that happens. have an affair with one of them, and then eventually resign because you're not going anywhere professionally, and boom the company gets sued.
