Russia has very strict traditional gender roles. They are not really questioned by men or women. They have conscription of course but also a whole range of jobs that are designated male or female by law. Bus driver is male, nursery school worker is female. Men tend to have it harder, the life expectancy is very low for men and they get extremely harsh prison sentences for the same crime compared to women.

Men can get life in prison with no release but for women the maximum in prison no matter how serious the crime is 25 years.

I guess that's one way to reinforce gender stereotypes.

Hahaha I love the name. Of COURSE what they actually mean is hiring a handyman. I guess this shows what they think of husbands. And people wonder why I don't want to get married

edit: This is a good quote:

Husband for an Hour does have two women on its staff -- but they are not called "wives for an hour" and do not fix taps. They are available to do ironing, washing or babysitting.

There's an Australian company called Hire a Hubby which seems just like this already. I never thought about it in the context of gender roles before though.
