My son is turning 16 in two days, and is the star of his HS football team. He has also played baseball since age 5. He has a severe learning disorder (he repeated 3rd grade and is a freshman), yet is very athletically intelligent... In Nov, '14 he was at a beach bonfire w/friends and tried pot for the first time. A known promiscuous girl who liked him was in attendance. Some bad choices were made on my son's part, combined with peer pressure that he's not used to, along with a scantally clad girl with a bad reputation who had her sights set on him... THREE months later word gets around two high schools, and a girl who wasn't at the beach on the night the two kids had consentual sex (I am NOT proud of that), went to the Principal and falsely accused my son of raping this other girl!! I spoke at great length with the Sheriff, well more listened than talked, and he assured me that no crime had been committed.. My son NEVER cries. NEVER. EVER. He cried today. We had a good talk. Not too long, but got the points accross. I mean it happened months ago, and he's been carrying around this bag of crap for a long time. Why make him feel worse than everyone else already had? I did re-go over all the basics w/him, though. Man! How this could have ruined everything for him! Why are football players accused of this so much? We are Christian, and I've always told my boys that if they follow God's path, and do the right thing, that a woman will come into their lives better than anyone they could ever dream up; stay on the straight and narrow, all that... But, what about this little self appointed cop, who erronneously accused my son of rape? She wasn't there; it didn't happen, and isn't that a crime? Any Helpful advice is greatly appreciated from this thankful single mama! Go Men!
