Ultimately, Cardinal Burke is a traditionalist. When he rants against the 'feminized liturgy', he doesn't just impugn women's contributions, he limits men's contributions and potential for expression.

Personally I don't think the picture is quit as break as is often portrayed.

Men are remarkably versatile, but are also remarkably stoic and usually simply adapt to changing social norms in ways that often confound the intentions of feminists.

At the moment, for instance, feminists and progressives are busy re-defining marriage so that divorce is easier and more favourable to women. But the fact is that you can only push these things so far before they lose all meaning: if marriage is too risky for men, they'll simply turn their backs on it, and fundamentally women need it more than men do - just financially they can't manage retirement well without a male partner who's pension - due to them usually having a longer uninterrupted work-life - will be higher.

Feminists are busy destroying marriage and the family, completely ignoring the fact that there's a reason it's always been young women who fantasised and dreamt of weddings, not men, and that's because it's in their interest - historically it's been like winning a lottery.

But if marriage doesn't provide some security for men they'll just refuse to engage in it; and that's what's happening.

The church has been targeted by feminist attack for years - because it stands in the way of their radical agenda.
