I was BP'd and made the mistake of "shitting where I eat" by getting involved with a girl in my neighbourhood. Met her father and other family members as well when I was with her. All of them seemed to like me back then and I too used to have great conversations with her father. Also we used to help each other in repair and maintenance work of home and community. He was being a friend to me all that time.
A few months back the girl moved to a different state and I'm not involved with her anymore as I do not keep imaginary friends around me as LDRs. But, I guess her father didn't like that and now he just keeps trying to dominate me and belittle me whenever he can.
Some examples of his behaviour:
1.) I'm a member of maintenance committee of my block and so is he. The committee was discussing about a burglary that happened in one of the homes and how we can make the area safer for everyone. While all of us were inspecting the block, he suddenly started ordering me to do things for him in front of everyone and I saw him smirking slyly at me. As if he was trying to break me.
2.) Every time I meet him outside while leaving or returning my home he makes sure to ask me about my whereabouts and plans. If I answer him vaguely or don't answer him the first time, he gets angry and pushes even more to know where I'm going and what I'm going to do there and when I'll be back. It's creepy sometimes.
3.) In the committee meeting one day, I was suggesting some work that needed to be done and he was opposed to that idea. When I told the committee members the reason and benefits of that plan, everyone, but him, was in favour of implementing the plan. And that just didn't turn out well for me as he just started raising his voice and shouting at me in front of everyone and started telling things about me that I had told him as a friend back in the good days to everyone. As he is a senior member and all the other members don't want to offend him they just discarded my plan, even after liking it and voting in favour of it earlier in the meeting.
He just keeps getting worse everyday. Earlier I was just ignoring him and accepting his reactions thinking that he is just a concerned father, but I think he's starting to think that I won't do anything about his madness and will just suffer in silence.
I want to know ways of handling this situation and people like him in the best way possible. Stoicism has helped me a lot in staying calm and composed amidst his madness, but I find it hard to maintain frame sometimes. What should I do?
