“She might have been having a bad day...I think she probably panicked, people were in windows looking at her,” he said.

I expect the same treatment if I ever do anything wrong on the road and leave the scene. Just shows a lack of respect for peoples property and a different set of rule for women drivers. She hit that car, she knew she hit that car, she drive away. Thankfully a camera caught it, imagine coming out to your smashed up car, I hope you too would just say "looks like I'm going to have a bad day now too" and pay your deductible. She's a criminal, and irresponsible and clearly doesn't care about others property, I hope her BMW gets hit and the driver runs off.

We've nearly come full circle with regards to societies expectations when it comes to women's mental capacity...

The very term Hysterical was derived from the Greek name for the uterus, as they believed women were so fragile that the smallest thing could send them into such a tizzy, they'd be completely unable to make rational choices.

All through the early 1900's, women were absolved of the most insane antics imaginable, simply by claiming to be under duress at the moment. Not only did society buy this notion, they encouraged it. Dismissing women as nothing more than fragile emotional headcases is part of what led to the 'women in the kitcen' 50's.

We'd had a feminine revolution once before then. In the 1920's women gained freedom. The flappers of the 20's would be more at home in 1997 than they would 1957. At that time, they were finally being allowed into the workforce (think the fiesty female reporter) They were finally being allowed to be promiscuous and dress in naughty clothing (for the time) and a real sea change in gender roles began to take shape. This is one of the cores behind Hemingway's Lost Gen concept. The women in the 20's were independent and aggressive, which left their men wondering what was expected of them. Various things would happen in the next few decades that would erase this progress entirely and by the time we reach the 50's, we're back to the women are infants mindset in society.

One of the reasons for the slide backwards was societies willingness to entertain such ridiculous concepts as hysteria being a female condition they couldn't control and as such, relieved them of any responsibility.

I'm not shocked that this 'tool' is re-emerging now, I am however flabbergasted that it's the opposite side now employing it! If Feminism isn't careful, this will undermine their movement to such a degree, that we very well could see a return to more regressive ideals within our own lifetime.
