he went way too far, if he was trying to teach his son how to be a man, what he taught was that it's okay to brutally attack people over words.

Teenagers have hormones, their emotions are all screwed up especially when it comes to arguments with parents. Calling your mother a Beatrice is very disrespectful but it's not uncommon and it certainly isn't the worst thing a teenager can do.

Also, as a parent, your moral obligation is to put your children first, even over your spouse. If his daughter called the mom a Beatrice, would he have taken similar action? I think not.

Brutally attacking your child, not spanking, not whooping but brutally attacking, is never an answer. I could see if the son raised his fists at or otherwise posed a physical threat to the mother but this is just ridiculous. That father needs to be charged and investigated by child protective services.

If you can't teach and discipline a child without severely injuring them then the rational person is correct to question your, character & your competence. The father committed a brutal crime, the child committed a normal teenage infraction. This isn't to say the child isn't deserving of a punishment but let the punishment fit, not grievously exceed the infraction!

When this child gets arrested for brutally attacking someone who said something he didn't like, we can't say it's because of a lack of a father because that's the very person he learned it from!
