I'm struggling with understanding why I have to pay child support when I have my kids just as much (if not more) than my ex.

I don’t exactly understand the calculations, but in Atlanta child support obligations go by earnings as well as time. The problem is my ex is content to be a minimum wage blogger rather than get a job that is commensurate with her degrees. This is forcing me into higher child support payments when if she pursued a career in her field she would probably be making more than I am.

She is relying on me to supplement her income so she doesn’t really have to work. When I mentioned to some sympathetic court staff that I will just go “work for minimum wage too” they said it wouldn’t matter, they would go off of my earning potential or something to that effect. Why are they not doing that for her??

This incredibly unfair and unjust!

Can anyone provide me with some direction on this or a successful mens rights lawyer so that the court can get her earning potential recognized?
