I’m separated, with 50/50 access. Family home is sold. She’s bought her new home and I’m now looking to buy mine. These areas are in Dublin, Ireland. Any advice appreciated.

  • my work is in the north-inner city
  • ex and the boys will be southwest in Citywest
  • twin boys aged 4 1/2 Options for where I could live
  1. next to my work. It’s rough but potentially a shrewd investment. This would be a 2 bed flat. Using the communal gardens/roof terrace and the playground in Mount Joy Square as outdoor space. Being here presents the issue of what to do with the boys in the week.
  2. D8/Inchicore. I don’t know this area too well but know it’s a bit rough. 2 bed flat or small house. Short cycle to work and a drive to the boys
  3. Chapelizod. I don’t know this area but it seems nice. 2 bed flat.
  4. Crumlin/D12. Up and coming. I might not be able to afford here. It’s between work (20min cycle) and the boys.
  5. Rathgar- posh area but I’d only get a 1 bed flat
  6. Clondorkin - houses are cheap and there must be a reason!
  7. Tallaght - same as Clondorkin. But close to the boys. Long commute to work.
  8. Citywest - right next to the boys. Small flat. I think I’d get depressed this far out of town. Long ass commute to work.
  9. Blessington and beyond. I could move out far. And have a large place and a bit of land. This would be 30mins to the boys and then an hour on to work. Could be worth it for the right place?

Any advice appreciated, especially if you know Dublin!

Thanks
