So I've been working out of town the past month earning money on the road for my family(wife and her daughter from previous marriage) and finally make it back home in 1 piece excited to see them and spend quality time together. My wife, however, doesn't waste any time letting me know she wants a divorce as soon as I get back. It's utterly shocking because we are best friends, have a lot in common, passionate relationship etc etc and tell each other we love each other and are so lucky to have found each other all the time.
I now feel used in so many ways. When I met her 7 years ago (married 3) she was a single mom with over 90k in back taxes, an alcoholic, smoker and adoral abuser. Yes, I know red flags galore but I thought I could fix her by giving her the tools she needed to change her life. Now, she's waaay better with the drinking etc, (shantix) paid off a lot of her debts and is back in school after raising a child for 13 years from when she was 18.
She swears up and down there's nobody else and that she realized while I was gone that she didn't miss me and wants to live alone. We recently moved to a new house and she made friends with a group of single girls that she's been hanging/partying with while I've been gone. She also has been spending money on Botox, expensive facials, clothing and furniture while I was gone.
She also quickly stated after dropping the D bomb that I should get a lawyer as she wants 1/2 of the money which I just earned working my ass of on the road and 1/2 of all the mortgage payments we made on a house we lived in but that I bought before we got married.
I'm utterly distraught as this happened a few days ago and she already has her stuff moved out and living in a new house in the neighborhood. I'm wandering what the hell just happened and what I legally owe her at this point, so confused.
I will be consulting with an attorney soon but want to know your opinions, thanks!
