Basically decided that I’m going to finally do this. We are both 44, married for 9 years and together for 15. We have an 8 year old together. We’ve had our ups and downs, but now I’m just tired of where it’s all at. She’s very passive aggressive to me at home to the point that I’d much rather be at work. I feel like she’d be devastated if I did this as she’s depended on me nearly the entire time we’ve been together. It may seem like I want out over fixable things, but these are issues I’ve brought up in the past but still remain. Is there anything that I should do before I drop the hammer on this? What steps should I take before I say anything?

Here are the main numbers. I make more than she does, $95k to $50k. Retirement accounts are both average and I will have a reserve component military retirement as well. We have a house worth about $250k that we owe just over $200k on. No other investments to speak of. She owns her car and mine is leased. We have like $20k in credit cards between us. Neither of us come from money. I’ve spoken to an attorney in the past and would reach out again if need be.
