I am on fire today because it's New Years and I want to continue developing the mindset of being a high value woman.
Last week we met with a priest in our house. The meeting consisted of prayers and getting to know each other as people from their town.
Then we wanted to dine in. All the men started eating but the women (most in their 60s, all with kids) sat back and waited for them to finish.
Most men talked about each other and how they knew each other with the priest and how this one guy was super close with the priest. They talked and talked and talked until I sat down and talked. I talked about the priest and how he was ensuring the presence of the church around his community and he started sharing.
He was very nice and receptive to me because it's kind of his job and telling this story just goes to show how patriarchy is.
Women wait until the men finished eating and it's because they felt bashful and shy that they wouldn't add anything into the table.
All I did there was to sit down and start to get to know them. I was neutral, didn't show any disrespect and I got what I wanted.
If you are the priest I talked about the Bible, if you are the layman we talk about secular life.
But I realize that men generally show their guns to each other, like little shits and the priest actually know what they are doing and he was just there to tell me what I needed to know.
After they left I asked the women why they didn't try to join I guess they were used to staying at home and just following everything that they felt that they have nothing else to offer.
I notice the difference between their generation to mine. They are meeker than me. They are nicer and more patient, but they are also prone to not talk in front of men they seem to have more knowledge than them.
If I was the first woman to sit with them and talk, then I could inspire other women to be the same.
Let's continue break these barriers 😉.
