Hello all, long time FDS lurker here.

I found this sub after I got married (I'm from an eastern country, so the patriarchal mindset is still thriving) and I use it to remind myself to not lose my identity post marriage as Mrs. PickMe

Before marriage, I was pretty much consistent with my way of living, staying fit, not a lot of hating/jealousy, reading a lot as well as learning new things everyday (new music, new series and whatnot). When I would get together with my younger siblings or friends we had great and insightful conversations rather than garbage gossip.

Post marriage, I seem to be losing my hobbies, my interests and my confidence. All around me there are negative comments from married women who say I should be focusing on my home and doing 'housewife' stuff and with the covid lockdown, be popping out babies because 'it's free maternity leave'🙄

Most times, I'm pulled away from speaking to my siblings or single friends because I'm 'grown up' now and I should sit with the married group who either talks about some airhead rumors or frivolous negative comments on people's lifestyles.

Today I finally had time to spend with my siblings and I suddenly realized I was losing out on things to talk in common with them because I was out of their lives post marriage and got stuck between the rut of finishing my duties at home and work.

This feeling of isolation and separation has been creeping up on me so much that I seem to be drifting away from my past good habits and letting myself become LV. Even my husband has commented upon it (the thing that hit me most was when he said 'I can't bear to see you like this because you're a woman who I learn from, and inspire me to be my best self everyday. This is not who you are.')

I did share what I was feeling, and while I think he may not completely understand it, he's been helping me to stay accountable and motivated on my hobbies, but the gap feels insurmountable and today just hit me way too hard.

Has anyone ever felt like this before? How do you overcome this feeling?

Thanks for listening 🙂
