Hi all. So glad to be here. I've been reading for months, and y'all have seriously shifted my mindset about men and given me and education I desperately needed. It has helped SO much in dealing with OLD stealth crusties, those crusties that play at being potentially worth getting to know further then reveal their worthlessness in all its tainted glory.
I was talking to a guy who came on strong, and seemed to have the receipts to back up his early claims. He texted me every day, several times a day, planning to come and see me once COVID restrictions have been lifted in Canada between the provinces. We had our first video chat a few days ago, and he continued to text several times a day in the following days. For the last three days, crickets. It is somewhat confusing, as our video chat went really well, he has a job that requires a high degree of responsibility and communication, he's over 50 ( I am in my 40s, so age appropriate for me) , and I thought that maybe I was actually talking to a mature grownup who had good manners. He deactivated his online dating profile after we spoke, indicating that he wanted to put time and energy in exploring a further connection with me, and was said he was "looking for HIS woman" and not wanting to be engaging in chatting with others while trying to get to know me better. I did the same as a courtesy, as I did like what I had seen and prefer to focus on one person at a time. I was cautiously optimistic.
Wrong! A LVM is a LVM, no matter how old he gets, no matter how good he is with words, and no matter what he does for a living. I know that LVM have a habit of slinking back in for second chances, so I sent him one extremely brief and civil text indicating that I will take his silence in the past few days as an indication he is no longer interested in holding my attention, and wished him well. Then I BLOCKED. I reactivated my dating profile. Next time, I will be even more cautious. Thanks to all you lovely strong ladies here--your experiences and wisdom have put steel in my spine, and toughened me up in ways I needed to be.
I am curious though--has ghosting been a thing that many of you have experienced out of the blue, when things seem to be going well with a man?
