I hate being hit on at work. It drives me bonkers. I purposefully don't wear makeup or dress nicely to go to work to avoid this. Even overly friendly conversations will put me on guard. I have alot of experiences with shitty guys so I try to lay extremely low.

As this quarantine has happened, alot more customers have come in and spent alot more time chatting with me than normal. I have been a bit more patient and willing to chat as I do understand that for some people, speaking with me may be the first time in a week this person has left their house and interacted with anyone. I've been more patient and nice and letting people stay in my store a little longer than usual to chat.

A guy came into my work, within 5 years of my age for sure, I'm (21F), and we chatted just about whatever. Movies ended up being the topic because I watch a shit ton of movies and he said he was as well during quarantine. Chatted during the time he was paying for his stuff and then as he was leaving he put me on the spot and asked for my instagram to "send him a list of movies". I will admit, I felt really on the spot and unsure of how to say no, and it was just my instagram so I said yes. He messaged me later I sent him a list of movies. He messaged me all night.

The next day bright and early he's up again messaging me. All day. We end up starting a movie at the same time one evening and essentially "watch it together". Everything was fine.

Next say bright and early he's messaging me again. I'm starting to get kind of sick of this, as at this point in time I am currently doing alot of self exploration regarding my sexuality (I think I may be asexual), as well as just within myself and all relationships. I just got out of a 6 month relationship and it really made me realize I am in no place at all to want any sort of relationship currently. I do not like being chased by guys. In a romantic way, sexual way, or friendship way.

He would send me a message, and then it I didn't reply within 10 minutes, he would send another messaging saying "sorry I guess not...". That shit pisses me the fuck off. I don't even know you, let alone owe you a reply in 10 minutes about something absolutely arbitrary.

I backed off alot. When we had met initially there was no conversation or acknowledgement that we were even going to be friends/talk regularly, let alone speak all the time. He started to reply to my snapchat stories (very mild-ly), sending me "cute" and such. That day I clarified extremely clearly to him that I did not want a relationship, any sort of romantic connection, and that I gave him my number so I could send him the list of movies like he asked. He apologized for over stepping and I basically just read it kinda ignored him.

He came to my work one day to buy stuff and also brought me a 3DS game to lend me to play.

Day or 2 later he came at me with some weird shit. For background let's say my cats name is Peter. He sent me a message one day saying "oh hey wanna hear a funny story? It's actually just a fact thats kind of weird. The only other 2 girls I've ever dated also had cats named Peter. Isn't that weird?" I read it and didn't reply. At this point I decided that I was over it and I felt bad about still having his game so I just actively avoided him for a few days.

He's still been messaging me all the time, and yesterday again hit me with the "sorry... I guess not" after 8 minutes of not replying. I found this sub recently and I've been doing a lot of reading and feeling more empowered and I honestly finally half snapped. I know he didn't even deserve that and I should have blocked him but I let my feelings get the better of me.

I really let him have it. He just kept saying "I feel like such an idiot, I'm sorry I wanted to talk too much that's just how I am". He also finally admitted that even though I had expressed to him multiple times I didn't want any sort of relationship or anything, he "still really liked me and acted like an idiot I guess". He also said he was "still hoping we could be friends but I guess not". He never even had the intention of being my friend in the first place. Jesus.

I blocked him. Feels great. Hopefully I don't have to face any safety issues at work, but emotionally I feel alot better. I have way too many things going on my life and past pain to process, I don't need any of this extra bullshit from anyone. I still have alot of problems with pity and acting too politely in uncomfortable situations but I have been spending alot of time on here and hopefully I can continue to learn and grow and be a stronger woman for myself.

Thanks to anyone who read this, and I believe you also have the power to stand up for what you believe in and stand up for yourself and your boundaries. Thank you
