So I reconnected with a man I went on a date with a year ago. He’s older than me by 12 years, widowed, and was very respectful and chivalrous on our date. He’s British, tall & attractive, successful, kind, considerate, very communicative.. I had a high opinion of him. Shortly after I met someone else my own age who I felt a stronger connection with and lost touch. Fast forward, I’m single again, and now a year later now, he messaged me and we started talking as friends. I didn’t think there was a strong connection before, but found out recently we share a lot of the same interests, which got us talking regularly.

He invited me to his summer home for a wknd and told me I’d get my own room. It was the same town my parents have a summer home in, and I planned to run some errands for them, and see him for the wknd too. I met him for dinner and after 2 glasses of wine, I got really tipsy. I don’t drink at all, so I’m a light weight. He carried me to a room, and I thought that was my room and passed out. I woke up with him sleeping next to me. When he woke up, he started humping me and licking my ear. I froze, to be honest, I lost control of what to feel or do! He’s very assertive and confident - I consider myself quite assertive but with men that are ultra confident sometimes I fall back. I think at a certain point I walked out and said I needed to get ready. He acted normally after and I tried to shake off the feeling. But since then, I’ve only felt more uncomfortable with what happened.

Since that weekend, he’s called me daily without notice, referred to me as “us, we”, talked about future plans assuming I’m down for. I’m currently traveling for July 4th with family and he’s called me during dinner every day. It’s stressing me out, I don’t want to hear from him, and I need to let him know I need a reset and why I’m feeling uncomfortable, starting with what happened when he carried me to “my room”. I’m not trying to progress things, but I don’t want to ghost without explaining. How would you ladies talk about this?

FYI he’s talked about marriage, wanting kids, on our first date. So I went from expecting a friends reconnecting wknd to being placed in his bed without knowledge and having him sleep next to me, daily calls, msgs nonstop till I reply, FaceTime requests, talking about the future together, etc.

I already messaged after his last 2 missed calls at 11pm and 12 midnight, that I think it’s best if we scheduled our calls instead me continuing to miss his calls. As a way of asserting boundaries. He ignored that and messaged me about something else - red flag.

Everything else about him is great, and I consider him a friend at this point, so I’d rather communicate about why this isn’t working.
