I am posting here for advice since I have read some comments regarding Instagram and the sexuality of girls.
At first I want to point out I have a lifestyle blog and I am trying to earn some money through blogging about my lifestyle and hobbies. I am 19 years old.
I made my Instagram public for a week or two. I automatically delete any boys that I find creepy. Except yesterday when I read the “Bois Locker Room” incident I immediately privated my account!
I found out how they go through profiles and morph pictures and do it to underage girls. Then they talk about rape etc. So I became really concerned.
I know how the rape culture is like because I have grown up watching a lot of Bollywood movies and I am a descendent from there. I would grow up watching crime shows and all these movies where I would see how women would get treated. I would read news articles regarding rape, acid attacks etc.
I want to protect myself on Instagram and I know it’s a lot to ask. Except I really don’t like the idea that someone could use my photos and repeat the “Bois Locker Room” incident.
I would not be sexualising myself! At all! Except the only way to grow my following would be to public my account which I am hesitant to do.
I don’t think there is anything else I can do. I already feel disgusted thinking that some guy can just sexualise over my photos.
