So this is an experience I haven't seen discussed on FDS and that I felt needed to be shared. Usually FDS is rather anti-gaming, but what about the women gamers out there ? We've all heard the story "my husband and I met through an mmorpg, we got closer by playing and voice chatting together all the time and now we live together and we're married !" I know I've heard it before and in my pick me, yet social recluse, days it seemed like an actual dream to have that happen to me.... until it did.

I've been in a handful of these types of online relationships, the longest one being a whole year and a half of my life being wasted. Sure it was a nice and easy replacement to an actual relationship, but let me tell you everything from the handbook still applies. They will fake making plans with you only to delay the fabled first meeting. They will get you into sexting and maybe even sending pictures to make you their own personnal free Only Fans girl. They probably have like 3 other alts where they string other girls along because they like the attention and because it's easy access to women from the comfort of games. Heck they might even already be in a relationship in real life and just use you for emotionnal cheating.

Even worse, the distance and the not meeting part doesn't make your relationship safe from abuse. The gaslighting can and will probably be rampant. A lot of these guys are also the depressed sad boi type who needs a mommy therapist and you will be constantly drained by them. Plus you can't even vet their hygiene and daily habits. Maybe they don't shower well and smell bad, maybe they're really into porn and struggle to keep it hard but you can't know it yet, maybe his cute appartment is actually his mom's basement, etc etc You will only lose time, effort and energy into these men and on top of it your hobby will now be forever linked with the bad memory of a scrote.

And these dude know that there are some 20 something women out there who will fall for them and their virtual avatar that is much better looking than they will ever be. They're out there looking for their online waifu who needs the lowest commitment possible and can be blocked at a moment's notice if you suddenly wake up and start asking for more. Don't do it, don't give them the time of day. Don't even play with them if you feel like they're trying to get you interested in them. Don't be afraid to blacklist people or even report them if they're harassing you. Be safe out there and don't waste your time, energy and affection on those who don't deserve it.
