It's not only college tho, but basically everything. All you're allowed to say is how your preferred ideology, religion, philosophy supports feminism, open borders, liberalism, etc.

Like, there is "freedom of religion" but only insofar as an atheist has the freedom to explain why atheism supports feminism, and a Christian has the freedom to explain why Christianity supports feminism.

I remember my first week of college 12 years ago. The entire orientation week was dedicated to the promotion of homosexuality and other sexual issues. Sex was something that was to be made light of. They literally threw condoms in our faces from the podium after the weird play/presentation they had. Nothing else was really discussed. This is a tax payer funded school that prides itself as "the Harvard of the Midwest".

In other words, I learned that rather than inculcating reason and augmenting the higher mental faculties, college is really an indoctrination center that feeds the lower passions and animal instincts.

It really is Plato's Republic in reverse.

I agree with The Onion on this one. College always seemed to be a "we can have this discussion, but there's a right answer and everyone who disagrees will be shamed into oblivion."

I had a bull dyke professor once who wasn't worth a damn (surprising, I know) who said "I'M GOING TO TEACH THIS CLASS FROM A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE BLAH BLAH PATRIARCHY!" She cancelled class more than she held it and got bitched at by the university. She asked us for our feedback and what she could do better, I raised my hand and said "well, you didn't give the best argument for feminism." She gave me a B despite A work all semester. Worth it.

BOSTON—Saying that such a dialogue was essential to the college’s academic mission, Trescott University president Kevin Abrams confirmed Monday that the school encourages a lively exchange of one idea. “As an institution of higher learning, we recognize that it’s inevitable that certain contentious topics will come up from time to time, and when they do, we want to create an atmosphere where both students and faculty feel comfortable voicing a single homogeneous opinion,” said Abrams, adding that no matter the subject, anyone on campus is always welcome to add their support to the accepted consensus. “Whether it’s a discussion of a national political issue or a concern here on campus, an open forum in which one argument is uniformly reinforced is crucial for maintaining the exceptional learning environment we have cultivated here.” Abrams told reporters that counseling resources were available for any student made uncomfortable by the viewpoint.
