I'm less saddened by this than by her ex husband trading a family for that lame thing for which he swapped.

I don't think her cut qualifies as "divorce rape". She got 25% of the couples ownership of Amazon stock and Jeff got 75% with Jeff retaining all voting rights of her shares, which is a wise move to keep the continued benefits of Jeff's business skills and Amazon's value for her shares. She met Jeff Bezos when she was 22 and he was 28, working at a NY hedge fund. Apparently he was her boss at the time, but funny how no #metoo backlash on that when it works out well. They went on to start Amazon together and she was there slugging it out in the early days as one of the first employees. She seemed entitled to 50% so he got a "good deal" in a sense.
