Biblically speaking it is completely reasonable. Let's take the story at face value. If a higher being exists then him having servants is completely logical. If said higher being is to be born on earth via virgin birth then it is completely logical that the husband would not be fucking happy. It therefore follows a logical pattern that the higher being would use his servants to tell the husband the truth about the situation. Indeed most anything else would actually be completely illogical. Get some human to inform him? Why would they believe them? Inform him via a dream? It's just a dream. Have a fucking terrifying creature (Biblical angels are whack) appear in front of him while he's going about his day and saying "ey man your wife isn't cheating because..." Sure it's shocking but it's by far the most believable option.
Obviously you can doubt the existence of any of the aforementioned entities but to claim that it's not reasonable within Biblical canon makes no sense. It's a completely reasonable choice in the very fact that if it did happen literally the only way it could be taken is the angel is telling the truth.

Yeah this is such a dumb take. Joseph was pretty much about to stone Mary to death for adultery before an angel came down and told him what's what.
I mean people can obviously not believe the Biblical account sure, but canonically speaking it absolutely make sense. People weren't fucking dumb back then they didn't just have someone say "it was God who impregnated me" and have everyone believe them. I do find it funny when so called "super intelligent" atheists think they're clever by making completely false assumptions about people who lived in a different time period.

Not just atheists sadly. A LOT of people are convinced that we're brilliant because we have flat screen TVs and the internet and everybody who lived before 1960 was a moron. It's amazing to read about some of the feats of our ancestors and really think about them. Like navigating across the ocean, the freaking OCEAN, on fifty foot, unpowered wooden ships, propelled by wind alone, that don't even work unless dozens of men know it inside and out and can function harmoniously to make it go. And it's incredible how complex those ships really were. How much though went into every single plank of them... And half the people today would just shrug and go "wind powered wooden boat is low tech, they were stupid, we understand better ways now."
And frankly, I doubt most of the people saying that even understand how those low tech things work, let alone any of our actual tech today. Most people who aren't physicists don't really understand how most of our shit works.
