My roommate has been in a relationship with a girl now for about 8 months.

He's rarely home, has put on weight, and never has time to himself.

His girlfriend comes over on weekends, gets drunk, uses the kitchen heaps, and makes a mess.

When she drinks, she starts talking about marriage and kids, and has recently dropped a few comments suggesting what 'our' marriage will be like (referring to her and my roommate).

She recently bought him a book that was about something along the lines of 'how to be a rich dad', and it looked like the book was about how to save money when you are married and have kids.

Since mentioning that I have no intention to date at this point in my life she has started to pull him away from me and our other roommate. Since then, they only come over to visit once or twice a week, and he mainly stays at her house during the week.

He sometimes talks about how she has not had sex with him yet, and at a party last week he joked about it in front of about 9 or 10 people. He felt fine cucking himself in front of others like that.

The point of my post is that I struggled with feelings of frustration in those first few months as I noticed the increasing control my roommate's girlfriend had over him. I felt angry when it was very clear how she started isolating him from me after I revealed that I am happy living a Bachelor lifestyle.

My frustration and anger paved the way for a brief period of sadness and loss. But I feel that I'm moving past this now. I've started to think about who we might get as the next roommate when our lease ends in a few months, and this thought is exciting. Maybe another MGTOW? I doubt whether my blue pill roommate will want to stay when the lease ends, as his girlfriend will probably move out with him somewhere and isolate him from his friends even more.

I'm glad that I've allowed myself to feel the throes of anger, frustration, and sadness over the loss of my friend in recent months. It's enabled me to begin to reach a point of acceptance. I can't change the fact that this is the way it goes for many men. Although it's sad seeing him living a controlled life, and knowing how hard he has worked to get to the job he is in today (only to then lose half his income when he ends up getting married), I'm moving past the need to care about how he is being coerced to live his life.

tl;dr: We all lose friends who enter a committed relationship and get married. Acceptance of the fact that we can't change this enables us to continue on the path we have chosen for ourselves. Allow yourself to feel the loss, but don't linger for too long. Continue moving forward.
