I would maintain a cordial relationship with her, but don't go way out of your way to be nice to her because she won't reciprocate. I would say make sure you have the best lawyer money can buy. Don't speak poorly of mom to the kids. Let her do what she will, I think you are in the strongest position a man can be. If you can get a court hearing in your state rather than hers, do it.

Ask your lawyer for advice for ways to prove the kids aren't safe with mom. Has mom gone to rehab and then relapsed in the past? A pattern of bad behavior on her part would benefit you.

I wouldnt go after her for child support at any time in the future either. That just makes shared custody seem fairer to the judge, and you probably wouldnt collect anyway.

depends...but her family is not your friend....also if custody is threatened a.k.a visitation your parents can change ship too......stay on ps and qs and don't go crazy.....my homey is a single father and had the same fear...he stayed on his ps and qs...but every mans situation is different....but i do understand tact.......making you seem unfit or false accusations aern't a problem for women.....just some things before I dissapear to nothingness

Your absolute priority here, should be what is best for the child. i.e. keep your children away from hard core drug users.

BTW, once you start tussling over access, it will get nasty. Trust me.

You don't really need the small amount that you would likely be awarded(if ata all). Also keeping her family on side means no sudden court cases, especially when you pay to take your kids to see their mother. If it's best for your kids to have a relationship with their mother then that should be pursued.

Just remember the law is interpreted so justice is never consistant. The next time you might get some feminazi judge who thinks you should be in prison for just being alive.

If your child likes you, it can help you in court. Don't spoil the child, nor buy its love. If the court sees an healthy child, interested in school (as much as a child can be), and with a father with good morals, your lawyer can use that. Worst case scenario, the court covers its ear and shouts la-la-la-la, but then you can argue, both in court and outside, that the court is clearly biased. They'll give her an advantage for sure, but the harder they have to try to make you look bad and her look good, the more they'll have to work to justify their sexism, and the more they risk losing, by alerting everyone around you that a good father lost its child to a ex-convict that could not give the child a better education or life conditions, just because vagina

Pretty much you're in a good position at the moment, but when the magical pussy comes out from behind the bars, you will be needing to fight her and white-knight city.
Does your lawyer have a copy of her rap sheet? Hire a PI to get it, and to tail her to confirm if she's not using again.
Also, contact CPS, and explain your concerns, that she will use again regardless of whether she has custody or not of your child. See if you can have a case officer assigned to you, to evaluate you and your life. You're working, so you must be paying for child-care, right?
Do you have neighbors? Are they aware of your situation? Do you have cameras around and inside the apartment/house? What about on your car? (are you in a gated community or your car is in a garage?)
You need to begin your offense now, home videos, neighbors or girlfriend as immediate support, emergency numbers on the fridge, a good relationship with a CPS officer, good relationships with your neighborhood watch and local police, a single parent's group, etceter. You need to not only BE frickin' Dad of the Year, but you need at least 5 upstanding community leaders to stand for you.
Maybe make a small donation to the local community and present the cheque to the mayor personally whilst holding your child? Get where I'm going?

I feel for you. You sound like a very decent human being.

Get a lawyer now and start hitting her as hard as you can until you get the custody you want. Have a talk with her family before you start and lie to them. Tell them you are only seeking full custody until after she proves she is completely clean and sober and ask them not to interfere. They may agree and will refuse to help her with a lawyer. Family court steps all over decent human beings, especially the male variety.

Very, very unlikely she will ever become 100% clean and you cannot allow your child to be with the kind of company a drug addict woman keeps. I have seen cases where the drug addict boyfriends trade the child for all kinds of horrific acts in exchange for drugs with or without the drug addict mother's knowledge.

Again, lie to her family to keep them out of it. Don't put anything in writing for them, but promise verbally whatever it takes to keep them from getting involved.
