The video game thing seems like a canard. This looks to me like young men are simply staying in school longer. I mean those charts appear to indicate that since the recession the percentage of young men working has been roughly 3-5% lower than expected. The labor market has been shit for most of that time and credential inflation is rampant. How many more men spent a few years in their early 20s picking up extra degrees? Also consider the fact that the housing bust killed employment in the building trades and a lot of guys who would do that out of high school went to college instead.
