I have almost 100k in my bank account and invested in index funds. I'm a image processing software engineer making around 100k/yr as a contractor while working 100% remotely and I just completed my first year in this role and my contract will renew soon

I want to focus on making more money. Although quantitative finance sounds interesting, I don't think they let most of their quants work remotely, which is something I highly value.

I was thinking that because I know some machine learning and have done some deep learning in my job, maybe I should look more into deep learning, such as working on autonomous vehicles. Do they really even make that much more money than typical software engineers?

Anyone here work in this field? What do you think is the best way to make the most money? Or just stick with my current job, do the best I can, and spend my time outside work investing in stocks, real estate, cryptocurrency, etc?
