A few posts here have asked about ideas for things to do, hobbies, etc. I recommend archery.

I haven't done archery since I was a kid in the Boy Scouts (RIP). My kid has been doing it for a few years now and has been asking me to do archery with him. He's got a nice compound bow setup though he wants a crossbow, I'll probably get him one in a few years if he stays interested in archery.

I decided to get a recurve bow. Originally, I planned to get a one-piece but they're all too short for my height and draw length, I'd need to have a custom one made and for that I could get a Hoyt competition recurve.

Picked up the bow today, 3-piece, 70" recurve, and did about an hour of practice with a few breaks, need to get the muscles into shape lol. For now I'm keeping it a barebow - which means just an arrow rest and nok on the string; no sights, stabilizer, string silencer, plunger, clicker, etc. I went with 500's for arrow shafts for target shooting.

We have a few outdoor ranges nearby that I plan to visit this winter - until the gun range remodel is done ;) - it's a great outdoor activity if you're looking for something to do. I recommend going to an archery shop if you're new to the sport, not a sporting goods or department store until you know what's what.
