He should also "develop a habit" (not really) to use as an excuse for the missing money (ie gambling) and let her catch him doing it. She'll badger him into a rehab program. I don't know which country you are in, but if you are in North America find a small bait shop near you. Tell them you want a cane pole, some line, a hook, a bobber, and worms/crickets.
