You would have to be crazy to meet privately with any woman from your workplace. I'm a VP and a pretty younger girl would make a point to chat me up, one day she came into my office, closed it over and started talking, I cut her off and said "can you open the door please" and I moved my chair out from behind my desk so I was in full view of everyone. She was shocked by the move, but I'm not stupid.

I currently work for a large employer with 80% female employees. I totally ignore the women that I don't know and don't work directly with - don't even look at them as I walk by them in the hallway. My clients are 95% male. When I get a female client a female colleague takes her on as her new client. So I don't have to deal directly with female clients - this was by my choice. Also, I recently went to a conference outside the office. A female that I didn't know, who works where I work, decided that I was going to give her a ride back to work after the conference. It's just a 10 minute drive and her car was in the shop and her ride fell through. I purposely left a little early and ditched her. I've got to protect my career as I can afford to shuffle down to part-time only work in 19 months! It's just not worth the risk. Even a smile can be misconstrued. In the recent past, two women at work threw me under the bus due to I was referring clients to them and they didn't want any more work. Now they are trying to be friendly and I flat out ignore them. They fooled me once - shame on them. I won't give them the pleasure of fooling me again. Sincerely. A happy man!

So let me see if I understand this. The modern day professional male in America is avoiding women in the work place because of the over-apparent chance of being slapped with a harassment suit and having their careers destroyed as result, and women are upset because then men in the work place aren't paying them attention...directly because giving said attention to a female in the workplace can be misconstrued or manipulated by said women into a harassment suit?

I've read the comments, not one women can fathom the fact that some women lie about sexual harassment just for personal benefit.

All comment indicating that it's dangerous for a man to be alone with a woman are answered by "just act respectfully and it will be OK".

None of them acknowledge the fact that even when acting perfectly respectfully you can still end up with sexual harassment accusation...

This is a contributing reason for me to leave my last job. Due to piss poor leadership, my group of engineers was reassigned to be supervised by a non-engineer woman. She had no clue about us or our assignments. Her role as our boss was supposed to be temporary. When that situation dragged on, eventually she had to do my annual performance evaluation. Being evaluated by someone that can't do my job; great.

In a conference room for the performance evaluation meeting with her sitting across from me at a big conference table, she announces, oh my button has come undone. My mind raced. What's this? Am I at risk in here alone with her? Should I get up and leave? My career flashed before my eyes. I decided to say nothing, look at my papers on the desk. Only answer with the shortest possible responses. She clutched her blouse tightly and kept repeating that she was embarrassed that it was undone. She could have ended the meeting, she was the damn boss. Was it a test? was I supposed to have a certain reaction? New goal: Get the hell out of that room before I lost my job.

I don't know what she was up to, but I started my job search right away. I've got too much to lose to get wrapped up in crazy female boss mind games in a closed conference room. I'm working for men again, and it's so much better.

I'll be polite and professional when I have to be around them, but I'd prefer to stay away. The risk is too high to get trapped. Stay safe, stay away.
