It's simple really, read the employee manual and all the policies where you work, know what you can and can't do and say in any situation, and try to keep a low profile. Typically if they make you sign a form, it means you can get in trouble for that particular thing you are signing, so whenever you get training and have to sign or document stuff, make note of what your signing and follow those rules, if you care about your job. Corporations like to document everything and have a paper trail going back to when they first train you saying that you got the training, so that if discipline up to a firing is required, they have the legal documentation in place to avoid paying unemployment benefits.

If they try to get you in trouble for something not specifically mentioned in something you signed, for example not participating in out of work employee gatherings which should not be required by any employer, you can protest with HR and get your record cleared. As usual use common sense and keep your emotions in check when possible.

If co-workers talk crap about you, you can technically go to HR and turn them in for harassment depending on what they are saying. There is definitely a non-harassment policy at most employers. If legal where you work, document evidence on your phone via video and file a complaint. If they fire you for filing a harassment complaint against a co-worker, which they shouldn't, I'd consult an attorney and file for unemployment, make sure you get it.
