A lot of people forget that for a few years, Brendan Fraser was a really big deal. His career started to wind down because he was having health issues and struggling mentally after being molested by a hollywood bigshot. It was obvious the well was going to start drying up, so his wife filed for divorce and he was forced to pay her nearly 1 million dollars every year, which forced him into poverty at his lowest point. That would change anyone for the worse.

For those who don't know, Brendan got sexually harassed by a high level gay executive. This screwed him up resulting in therapy. Later on, his son developed mental disabilities, forcing him to put aside his career to care for him. His wife ended up leaving him.

His case is EXACTLY the type my YT channel covers. I'll be profiling him in a few weeks. In short, she waited til she'd be at the 10 year mark to file for divorce (in CA that means alimony for life), got $900K a year in alimony and child support, and he asked for a reduction years later b.c., well...when's the last you saw him in a major role? She actually fought him on it! Happens to men down on their luck across the country, rich and poor, and there is ZERO UNDERSTANDING of that man's situation from most women who "loved him so much". So many kick him while he's down. To Fraser's credit he didn't get married again that's for damn sure. As for that ex-wife, Afton Smith? Like so many, aged like milk. Personally, b.c. Fraser learned his lesson, I hope the guy makes a comeback. Just don't fall back into that same damn trap!
AFTON did NOT file for divorce ! BRENDAN did. And they were married and divorced in CONNECTICUT , NOT California. The alimony is $600,000 per year and is NOT for life, it ends January 31, 2019.
