Why is anyone getting banned ?

Especially a guy like this who has contributed a LOT to this sub.

You start banning people for having a contrary opinion and you're pretty much the same as the rest of the reddit subs. Not useful way to proceed IMO.

And yes I read that thread - no worse than hundreds of others I've seen here.

The original post was deleted so I can't tell if he was tone policing or just criticising. But yeah I agree, he shouldn't be banned for one offence. Now if he was a new account and he came in and posted "WHY DO YOU HATE WYMYN HUR DUR, DON'T YOU KNOW THEY'RE HUMAN TOO!" then yeah, he's bring nothing to the table and I would support banning the low effort troll.

I don't know him. I don't know the situation and, therefore, can't support a motion to 'bring him back'.

But I do want to express my opinion on the ban subject. We all are people, and as such, we have different dispositions in different times or circumstances. I, myself, have sometimes made the mistake of reporting hastly. Sometimes I feel really motivated to have constructive debates with people and, other times, I don't. Sometimes I see concern trolling or tone policing and I lose my shit, but other times I decide to engage in a discussion and, if possible, demonstrate the error in which the other person incurs.

When one is in the predisposition of losing one's shit and tell others to go fuck themselves it's easy, and almost appealing, to report said person and, since they are actually breaking some rules of the sub (6 and 7 in the case I mentioned) they probably gonna get banned.

Personally, I believe that's an unproductive way of action in the long run, having in mind that free speech is a cornerstone of society, the development of ideas, and the search for the truth.

Generally, when an idea enters the arena of the ideas and discussion happens, a bad idea will die because it lacks of solid grounds, while a good idea will prevail just because it carries some truth in it. It's true that, when in the face of brigading or some other group tactics, the natural course of ideas I mentioned previously can be disrupted, but that's not, in my opinion, reason enough to invoke censorship at large scale.

As all of we, mods here are humans too and also have different dispositions in different circumstances, so it's not reasonable to expect 100% consistency all the time, always. All that being said, the rules exist for a reason, and as everything in life, without a structure (moral, legal, etc) all hell break loose.

I believe, and make a calling, to keep using the 'report' option as we, individually, see fit. One thing I really believe is that, in general, the people in this sub tends to be reasonable logic users, and as such, has the sufficient criteria to evaluate any specific situation and make the choice that seems better and more reasonable.

So, to summarize, keep calm, read and learn, manifest your opinion, and try to engage in a civil manner, where sometimes you can discuss and some other times you just gotta report.

up to the mods. But we have pretty clear rules. This is a place for men to speak their minds. If a dude is in the anger phase and wants to post about how all women are whores (they are) he is welcome to do it here.

There are plenty of safe spaces for people that want to virtue signal in the hopes Stacy will finally blow them (she won't).

banning someone for not toeing the mgtow line is rather antithetical to mgtow not being a movement/ideology/community.

ideologies ban. men dress each other down then are cool.
