I’m about to turn 21 in July and I like two weeks ago I broke up with my gf of 4 years. She was the first girl I ever had a real relationship with, the first person I kissed, etc.. I could have easily saw myself “settling down” with her just a handful of years from now.

That’s always been what I thought was the goal of life, since I was little. All you hear about is how everyone meets that someone and they get married and have kids and it’s great and amazing. And that’s exactly what I’ve believed.

I came across this sub the day after we split up and everyone’s posts and comments really made me think about my own life. My parents are now divorced after years of hating each other on and off. My now ex gf’s parents have a hard time standing each other and are on the verge of an expensive divorce. Love fades as time goes on, just like all the reasons you guys got together in the first place.

And when I thought about it one of the times when I was happiest was when I had no fuck to give towards girls at all. How much I loved being able to go do whatever whenever and not have to report back to an attention hungry female all day. And although being alone is something I never thought I would be as an adult I look forward to the fact that I will have freedom.

Emotional freedom, physical freedom, the freedom to do what makes me happy and not stress over bringing another person into the mix. So thank you MGTOW for opening my eyes and saving me from years of future mental trouble and financial burden when my wife and I inevitability divorce.
