Somehow, I've avoided most of that. When I was blue pilled, I didn't trust my ex-leech to get a job long enough for a long term contract on a house when I worked as a technician. This helped out in the long run with the divorce.

Post divorce, I changed careers into trucking, where the "student loan" was paid off by working for that company for a year or two. House was bought on monies from savings accounts, not a loan. No debt, no worries, no wife equals wonderful life.

Some people need to chase that STEM career, I chose infrastructure. Whatever formula you find that works for your benefit (positive income, not stagnation) do not allow variables to throw that formula off, just keep pounding that formula until you see a happy early retirement coming from it.

Obviously things are different on the west coast, but here in the SF bay area it's generally regarded that you are a barely made it kind of corporate drone if you have to take BART (our weird metro) to work. No VP of anything is taking public transit to save $6 of bridge tolls and $8 on gas. You have to basically be a herd employee at a wannabe tech company to be taking BART.

While maybe Bernie takes the train to seem like every man, I bet even on the east coast only the lower middle class take public transit.
