Under NSW law, a couple is considered defacto if they have been living together as a couple for a minimum of two years, entitling the parties to a 50 per cent claim of assets

NSW a state in Australia, I assume the other states are the same. If you have a girlfriend living with you for two years they can claim 50% of assets???
