That "chauvinist" culture is way worse on men than it is on women, always, you can take a look at Islam for a modern example of that, women always were protected and provided for with the ruling body using different systems of indoctrination and authoritarian violence to achieve just that from men, that's why the MGTOW mindset is so important, it's a non negotiable statement about male autonomy and sovereignty independent of women and the system they represent.

Not really. Feminism requires way too much in the way of excess resources to be properly sustained without technology.

The way I figure it went was like this. Human groups lived wild and savage before civilization, the women in the group all fucked the alpha male and every other male in the group wasn't therefore that invested in the group. This was great for the women as alpha male for all of them. But the other men didn't have a stake in the group because they weren't getting any. Unless of course they smashed the alpha's brains open with a rock and took his place, but that sort of system doesn't scale well. Still only one guy with a stake in the group.

Without the investment of the men of the group civilization was impossible.

So they constrained female behaviour and invented a the first form of monogamy, now all the men of the group had a stake in it and would invest in the group. Suddenly the vast engine that is the collective power of men could be harnessed and used to create civilization, technology, culture and one day..thousands of years in the future, put a man on another celestial body.
